In the very center of the Land of Een stands the small settlement of Glum Puddle, next to the pool that shares the same name. To the north of Glum Puddle stands a forest of toadstools and to the south is Boot Pond.

No one knows for sure how Glum Puddle earned its name, though one story tells of a time before the raising of the magic curtain when a giant trod across the land, only to trip in Boot Pond and crash face first into the neighboring pool. The giant is then said to have cursed it as a “glum puddle”—and the name has stuck ever since.
